Ringing In The New Year!

I guess that 2005 expects to come to the Genuine household with its hair on fire. As you know we have been blessed with a new Genuine Baby coming late in the summer. Yesterday we had Genuine Boy in the hospital and Genuine Girl is sick.

Mrs. G may be unemployed come Monday, and I am in the midst of launching a business, One By One Media, LLC.

All of this stress has caused the otherwise perfect skinned Daddy to have a zit on my cheek (facial) the size of Pike’s Peak! I hope 2005 is as fun as it looks like it wants to be!!!!

Is it too soon to start my New Year bash with a stiff drink?

The Homecoming

Genuine Boy has been cleared to come home and join the family! He has been calling for Daddy all day, but now I’m not so sure I want to jump into the possibility catching whatever virus that plagues him.

Genuine Girl is still a little feverish, and Genuine Baby is more demanding than ever of “hold me” time. Any volunteers out there to hold him while I take a nap before I go to bed? I picked a bad week to quit smoking crack.

Thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers. Friendship is such a wonderful thing!

A Turn For The Worse

As I write this, Genuine Boy is checked into the hospital in an oxygen tent. He began to have difficulty breathing last night so we decided to have him looked at by the professionals. They immediately checked him in due to his oxygen levels being way below normal.

Of course, being my son, it took four of them to hold him down while they gave him the nebulizer, giving a male nurse something to remember him by as he got a little too close. We Genuine’s always want to go out in a blze of glory.

He is in good hands now, and is breathing okay. Mommy and Daddy on the other hand are a little tired. He may get to come home today which would be nice.

You can bet I’m bringing this up with big man uptairs, and if you have a conversation with him, let him know we could use a hand over here. You might ask him to look over the people in Sri Lanka today.

Hump Day?

Well I’m actually off of my day job these days, but the BoB‘s are kicking my ass all over the place. I know that my fellow panelists are doing a great job reading and judging blogs and they are putting alot of their own time into this project. I have been exposed to some really great blogs that I’ll share when it is all over! I have even found some genres I did not know existed. A whole new realm of linking possibilities!

I never thought I would have ever said this in a million years, but blogging became a job today. So where the hell is my paycheck? I see……….so the day actually humps me?

Doggy Jingle Bells

I have been haunted all morning by Chrsitmas past. I have been hearing that song of jingle bells sung by those dogs. You know, that irritating one that every radio station has a copy of to make our season bright. Actually I have not heard the song per se, but at least the dogs. You see, Genuine Girl and Genuine Boy were both diagnosed yesterday with mono and now sound just like those barking dogs.

Maybe if I taught them a rendition of Auld Lang Syne, we could record it and sell it for enough money to send all these kids to college! I think I’ll start working on that. Perhaps a meal of Haggis tonight will get them in the mood for a true Robert Burns rendition. Does anyone know a good Haggis recipe? Wait…..is that an oxymoron?

Blog Whore 101

Pop Quiz everyone….put all of your papers and books beneath your desks and pull out a single sheet of paper.

Question Number 1: What is the fastest way to end up on the Genuine Blog Roll?

Question Number 2: What is the second fastest way to get onto the Genuine Blog Roll?

Question Number 3: Is Genuine on your blog roll? If not, why?

Answers in the extended entry….

Answer Number 1: As was found by Mamacita, the quickest way to the head of the class in my book is to buy me extravagant gifts from my wish list. In other words, bribe your way on!

Answer Number 2: There is a new type of bribery in the mix now and Tisha has hit the nail on the head. The second fastest way into my world is to flatter me with bullshit. Like for instance, Tisha has placed me on her blog roll and has named me “Mr. Incredible of the Blog World”. You see, its going above and beyond the call of duty that gets you noticed. Welcome to my lair Tisha, and you are now under the protection of Captain Genuine, or in your instance Mr. Incredible.

Answer Number 3: I would really like to be a big name blogger someday! Since I can’t win my own Blog Whore Award, I have to do it some other way!!!

*SIGH*

It was cozy, quiet and peaceful. There was just enough chill to make it impossible to want to leave the safety and warmth of the down comforter this morning. As I stood in the bedroom watching Mrs. G sleep before I left for work, I could hear only the slight snore of Genuine Baby as his stuffy nose made it difficult for him to fully breathe. Checking the children, they too were tightly grasping their covers with their noses buried deeply into their pillows snoring ever so slightly because of their stuffy head colds. I wanted to snuggle them all and take the sickness from their bodies. It is difficult to watch your children as they are sick, and knowing that the problems must “run their course”. As I drove to work I could not determine if what I experienced was wonderful or a time you wish you could change and not have to feel. One thing for sure, it was a time when I truly felt like a Father and a Husband.

God Bless Us Everyone

Yes, I am still in somewhat of a Christmas funk after the weekend. I wanted to first thank everyone for their kind comments of encouragement and I’m overwhelmed by the support. It is truly a blessing to see the number of people that we have in our corner as we look to an uncertain future. I have to admit that I am somewhat shocked by the news of the new baby myself. I won’t sugarcoat the fact that the unexpected can be somewhat alarming.

I would like to chronicle this upcoming adventure as I plan to write a number of chapters of a book each trimester with a look at a man’s view of pregnancy. I do invite all of you to follow along and share in the wonder of this miracle, then I want you all to buy ten copies of the book so I can afford to feed myself.

Here is to a wonderful 2005!
