After more than 20 tries to get Genuine Girl to go to bed and actually go to sleep, this was her answer. She is a rebel, and will not follow directions. This is not what we meant by "go to your room and go to sleep". Technically, she is in her room, but she had to stay up and listen to the adult conversation. She continues to test the boundaries of our resolve.
That's called every night at our house.
But with two kids.
I can count on one hand the times they've actually gone to sleep in their beds in the last month.
I wish I knew what it was that was so interesting. "Look! Dad's folding laundry! I wonder what he's gonna do next. Wait... more laundry!"
My nine-year-old did this for a while at our old house. He hated to miss *anything* by sleeping through it. We stopped it by telling him we'd seen spiders in the hallway. Curred!
Bill Cosby did a great bit in his stand up acts way back when we were kids... he used to say his wife had to tell their kids word for word what to do... "Now I want you to go upstairs... take off your clothes... get in the tub... turn on the water... please use soap... get out of the tub... dry yourself off... put on clean pajamas... and get in bed" doesnt it feel like you have to talk like that to them sometimes?! I know I do! LOL!
That reminds me of my sister when she was a kid. My parents would be watching TV in the living room, right outside her bedroom. She would lay in the hallway, where they could not see her, and watch. Then when my parents went to go to bed, they would see her passed out, half in the hall, half in her bedroom!
LOL Too cute! How come my kids never do anything like that? Their lack of rebellion is beginning to worry me.
At least she's still a kid, Squid's approaching 26 and I don't think he's slept anywhere but on the floor in nearly ten years. In fact, I'm not sure when the floor sleeping phenomenon started.
OMG! I have one exactly like that right here!! Her little twist is to sneak into my bed during the night when I am asleep. GO REBELS!!
I could have taken the exact same picture of my four year old last night.
grrrr...push mommies buttons...not cool...
