Looking over my email this morning while the children argued about who had the most syrup for their french toast, I was struck by a thought about the comment spam here on my blog.
For the past five or six weeks I have noticed and have read numerous comments on sites of many different genres. Everyone has a niche audience that continues to comment day in and day out. Everyone seems to have a group of people with whom they communicate.
Sometimes you might find a situation as a result of Blog Explosion or other random surfers that leave some nasty comments about what you have written or they may have a differing opinion on a topic and have a less than nice way of communicating.
This morning I pulled up my comments, and I see merely this:
Have A Nice Day
It was some gaming company or medication sales spam, but it was actually a very nice comment. It was simple, nice, to the point and not at all a bad comment to have in spite of its origin. I toyed for a moment to leave it on, but soon realized that it was an old entry and would probably not be noticed.
With that in mind, I have an assignment for all of you bloggers, and especially those of you that are avid BE surfers. Every time you make a comment, and I encourage all of you to comment on every site that so moves you, tell someone to "Have a Nice Day". What could it hurt? It may be the nicest comment they get all day.
You feed your kids french toast for breakfast? Who has time for that???? Most days my kids have dry cereal in a ziploc bag in the car!!! I know - bad mom!
Have a nice day!
My mom fed me French toast, although that was 25 years ago and old-school parenting seems to be considered passe' these days.
Have a lousy day, Genuine! Try to stay sober!
HA! :)
I frequently end my posts with "have a nice day all" but it's a good idea for comments.
Have a nice Day, Jim...
....and breakfast IS the most important meal of the day, right?
We had French toast yesterday morning for breakfast, so much easier than making pancakes ;-)
Have a nice day :-)
But what if I don't want to have a nice day? What if I've had like 53 nice days in a row, and I want something else?
Have a melancholy day.
Yeah, but they couldn't CARE less if you fell in front of a TRUCK. So when they say have a nice day, they're saying "aren't we nice for saying have a nice day?"
Whereas when a regular stops by a blog and says have a nice day, they're expecting to hear about it, nice or not. And in fact, the nice days? The entries for them are okay but . . .
Having a grouchy day. (more sleet a-coming.)
Meh. Have a day. More than that we do not dare to predict.
We pray it is good, but be prepared for all contingencies.
My 8th grade English teacher taught us that it was not nice to use nice in our writing...have a pleasant, edifying, productive, and refreshing day, Genuine! My kiddos like to say the French, pain perdu (lost or stale bread), for French toast. Bonne journee!
Just surfing by your site once more at BE; I usually stop to read but seldom leave a comment. Today I will! :)
Wish you a happy and blessed day!
Love from Norway =>
Hey ? French toast?? wanna adopt me ... here are the plus points ...
1> I don't whinge (not much anyway)
2> am potty trained
3> rarely ill ..
4> can read to the others
5> always am wishing people nice days ... (although not in that scary Hari Krishna kind of way)
lol
enjoy the day
I hope all of the Genuines have a nice day.
As for the French toast, I'd make it more often if certain people didn't always throw that newlywed rye bread thing in my face every time.
Yes, have a nice day. Better still, have a wondrous awesome witty whimsical day that makes you smile even when nobody's looking.
Wow, I feel like a BAD mommy....my kids are lucky if they eat cereal in the morning. But, HEY give me a break...they leave to get on their buses at 6:20 and 6:55 AM...It's a miracle I am AWAKE to see them off!
But, Hey...YOU have a NICE DAY!
"Nice" point, but people use "have a nice day" so often it scarcely means anything anymore (sigh.) Have a day rife with scintillating whit and may you live your life healthy, hale and hearty.
Everyone has already wished you a nice day so how about if I say Long days and pleasant nights instead?
Have a supercalafrigisticaspialdocious day Yeah... try to spell that.
Maybe the spammers have finally figured out they get more flies with honey than vinegar?
I received the same type of "spam" today too, only they told me what a wonderful blog I had. The only way I knew it was spam was the person's name was just a bunch of random characters, and their URL was to an online gambling site. I deleated it anyway, although it was a nice comment!
You feed your kids BREAKFAST? Hmmm...should try that sometime.
(In my defense, they're too cranky first thing to eat, plus they both get free breakfasts before school starts. Since it's more likely to be eaten then, I've learned to go with the flow...)
I think you should have an absolutely splendiferous day, following by a restful and relaxing evening (with something nice to sip by your side, of course...)
(Yeah, I can't help the one-upmanship thing...)
Here is hoping that you have a Peachy Day.. all warm and fuzzy. And if you like it Juicy that too. lol ;)
