For such a long time I have resisted the idea of advertising on Genuine. I think it can clutter a site and distract from the whole Genuine Blog experience. As you can see, installed on the sidebar is a new Blogads window for advertisers. I am testing this out to see if there is any merit to having such a tool for money making on my blog. After all, what could it hurt? I might just make enough money to buy another box of wipes, maybe a diaper or two and perhaps my kids will get to eat real food over the winter(violin music)and I can buy them shoes.
Actually, I guess if I'm trying to sell the idea of blogging for businesses at my business, I guess I should at least practice what I preach.
Has anyone out there made much money from the many advertising schemes available? Is this only for the "A" List Bloggers or the cool kids? What do you say, wanna help me feed my kids?

I don't generate enough traffic to even think about ads (but I'm not in it for the traffic, I'm in it for the beer). I say if it works - more power to ya, kids are expensive.
Not a dime...but I hear putting a PayPal button on your site and doing lots-o-begging works pretty well!

I have a little bit of advertising on my site and get money based on my traffic. They are late this month... but I get some money every month.
What is this "money" of which you speak? I have none of that. No prospect of it, either. Let me know how the advertising goes, ok? Please? Cuz when you're seriously considering a Kool-Aid stand up by the road, anything sounds good.

NOt a sou although I directed readers at my blog to click on ads at The Zero Boss's blog and he reports that's gone pretty well.
I've had some Google AdSense text ads up on my site for about a month. Think I've made 3 cents during that time... not much, but my traffic is pretty slim. I also use Amazon Associate links when I mention books, dvds and the like in a post. Earned about $100 in the past year that way.
So, I don't see myself getting rich through my blog, but then I'm not really putting a lot of effort into it. I blog because it's fun, not because I get paid. But the links and text ads are pretty unintrusive and I don't think readers really mind.
Nah, that's fine Jim. I clicked on the toys ad, so when you get your 2 cents, be sure I get halvies.
Do what you gotta do. Keep us updated on how it wors for you. If I had any traffic I would pimp my blog too.
I made 76 cents yesterday with Amazon Associates! (Where you put links to books, music, etc. on your site and if people click through to buy, you get a commission.)
Actually it's pretty unobtrusive.
