What type of publishing platform do you use?
Blogger
Word Press
Typepad
Expression Engine
Moveable Type
Let me know!
I'm thinking of abandoning the blogroll for a full on RSS feed system of reading blogs. What do you think?
I've been pretty happy with blogger.
Hey, I hope you'll vote for me (mooalex.blogspot.com) in the Blogette awards! Just go to http://www.kaysbargains.com/Contest.php
Thanks for your continued entertainment!
MT here. I and dumped the blogroll last month and went straight to feeds and am quite happy. I don't notice any difference between platforms until (if) I click through to the actual site.
Having used everything except for Typepad I'm stuck on Wordpress now. After getting used to it I'm trying to figure out why I haven't used it sooner.
I use blogger, but only because it's free. I don't know anything at all about RSS feed, but it sounds very cool! ;)
Somehow, admitting that I use Blogger feels like being the guy who has to stand up in the theater when they announce "would the owner of a yellow 1973 Ford Pinto please report to the ticket counter: your car is on fire."
Even though I have my own site, I'm still using Blogger (it's free!). I have no clue what RSS feeds are though.
I'm still in blogger (again its the free thing) but after trying to dump my blogroll I discovered living on bloglines alone doesn't work because not everyone I read has a feed and some feed s just don't work properly.
None of the above. I use Squarespace which is customizable but not too much so. I also love reading via RSS, it saves a bit of time.
Blogger. Mainly because I don't know how to use anything else. Because I'm, like, technologically stupid.
I've been using Expression Engine for about six months now and I've been mostly happy with it. I use Wordpress for content management on the work website.
I use Movable Type, merely because that's what I started on and I know the best. Although, I may start playing with Word Press sometime soon to see what it's like.
As for the RSS reader vs. Blogroll, I use both for now. I've come across some blogs that don't have any feeds.
Also Blogger, also because it's free.
Running Scared uses the Powerblogs interface, I *think* it's their own house blend.
It never occurred to me to just do an RSS feed. I'd have to look up how to do it, and I think I might be too lazy for that. Heck, I just got buttons up on my site for the RSS feed 2 weeks ago. I can see where it would be preferable to a blogroll, though, what with the blogroll response time issues.
Blogger, it works great when you have lots to say but have no real skills in getting the words out there to the world.
I use Expression Engine but also have MT and Wordpress and B2 installed since well I have to work on all of them.
I prefer EE. I don't like spam. This way I don't get any. I don't even have to delete any. That is my main reason for loving it so much.
I hear the new WP is r0xxor but I haven't messed around with it yet.
I harbor deep down hatred for WP and I hold grudges for a long time.
As soon as my year of blogrolling runs out I'm probably going to use bloglines.
Maybe.. who knows.
Expression Engine here. Love it. But just need to be less ignorant as to how to customize it more. *sigh*
I dumped Blogrolling too. I am lost. Sooo, what rss feed reader are you going to? I need help chosing one so I can get back to my obsessive reading of blogs (to avoid my writing that MUST be done.)
You can't know how good it makes me feel to be the only person using Typepad. Like I've just moved from the fifth circle to the 86th. No wonder no one blogrolls me. Between Typepad and foolish posts...
Are you telling me that not everyone is PAYING to blog??? The news keeps getting worse. I will say this: I know little more than how to turn on my computer and I did it all myself with Typepad- I find it pretty user friendly. I think.
MT. Love it. Love all the plugins that make my life easier.
Love my RSS feeds. One small complaint: Many feeds don't offer the full picture - I get text, but the full design doesn't show up. I've held on to my blogroll so I can check in with my favorite blogs for the full visual effect. People spend a lot of time designing their websites - I appreciate the thought and effort that goes into them and think they deserve a frequent look.
Hey there. I read your woman's blog so I thought I would stop in and say hello. While I am here, I might as well say that my husband and I switched from Typepad to Word Press and so far we are completely impressed. A lot to learn, but we love what is offered.
Wordpress here; I migrated from Blogger a couple months ago. It's fairly simple to set up, and the interface is a breeze.
I still have no idea what the RSS feeds are...*sigh* and I call myself somewhat technically literate??? (shrug)
Word Press for me.
Love, love, love it.
Lots of themes already out there and incredibly easy to customize - I think.
I use MT but not to it's best advantage I'm sure. It's what my kids used and set me up with and it is what is is....
MT, although I barely have a clue as to what I'm doing. I'm hoping someone reading will have mercy on me and offer a helping hand.
WordPress but I have to use Blogrolling and RSS because some people's blogs don't ping so I never know when they are updated.
