Do you play the Powerball Lottery? We don't usually but it might be tough to turn down a chance at $350M. So I might just buy that ticket. I have played the lotto drawing now and then since its inception, but have never matched more than 2 numbers ever. Not a single dollar has been returned to me. I figure that I must be due to win. Now what bill will I pay first? I might even stock up on diapers!
What would you do with 350 million dollars? Be creative and give me 5 things you would do! Let's assume you have already done the charity route and we can eliminate that copout answer! I want to know all the intimate details of what you would do with that kind of money!
Oh god, there's so much I'd do! Firstly, buy a new home, since Rita messed ours up and the insurance and FEMA are all "oh well, sorry, we can't help ya!"
Of course, I'd buy a lot of useless crap like computers, cameras, MP3 players, TVs, stuff like that.
And food. LOTS of food. (I have a problem.)
Five things (although I have many more ideas than this):
I'd pay my bills.
I'd buy a huge freakin' house. Giant.
I'd cover an entire room in fur.
I'd go the vanity publishing route and produce and distribute a CD of me singing, hoping that a lot of money *can* actually buy fame, regardless of talent, youth or looks.
I'd hire a good financial manager to make sure I couldn't bankrupt myself.
Can I dream real big?! YEP!
1. Pay off our house and everyone else's house directly related and get everyone out of debt
2. Set up college funds for our children and all of the nieces and nephews
3. Have HH back off on work and let him pick and choose what he wants to do. (because we know him...he won't quit working until his feet are in the grave no matter the money situation)
4. Give each set of parents a few million so that they can live their dreams (my parents - travel HH's parents - shooting club)
5. Try to keep life as normal as possible. Teach the children how to save and be responsible. Spread the love around with no strings and without anyone knowing who gave the money them. Never letting them know. Now that I would love. Random acts of kindness would run a muck.
I haven't thought about it any have I?
After charity and medical research donations to my favorite diseases and giving tons to my poor parents, I'd buy a bunch of cars: Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 1994, Audi TT in black just to name two. I'd build a brand new house in the area I am in now. Plus a house in Maui, one in Summit County, and another in San Fran. SO FUN!
Hmmm....WOW! Please assume that all left over money will be invested wisely...
1)Buy my dream house on the beach, close enough to Mom and Disneyland to make me happy.
2)College for the kids
3)New motorcycles for dh and me, customs of course.
4)Pay off bills
5)Take a much needed/deserved tropical vacation.
OK, so not very creative uses for the money, but it sure sounds good to me!
completely honest.
pay everything off. (less than $100K)
buy my children new cars (probably 200K-cause I'm gonna buy them what they want)
Give my husband a huge chunk---probably $3 mil.
Leave Him.
Travel. I have five places I want to go...Surprisingly they aren't huge tourist/money pits.
Build my dream house.
Invest in the bus business (I would do this right now if I had the capital)
Swim more. I live in the midwest...I don't get to winter swim very much...so I would either a) have an indoor pool or I would b)travel to swimming destinations.
I'm pretty boring on this one.
I would pay us out o' debt.
Live a little....
don't know about the rest...but this I know for sure....no money to the relatives.
none, not a penny.
In the words of the Simpson's Snake, "Goodbye, Student Loan Payments!"
Followed by a trip to Disney World. (But not this weekend, because of the weather).
Then I'd buy that Volkswagen Beetle convertible I saw earlier today. Cream-colored, black rag-top. It was love at first site. (sigh)
Then I'd make a call to Alienware. And I'd buy a couple of their laptops. You have to buy two so you can play with/against friends. (Note to self: get some friends).
Finally, Surround Sound. And I'm not talkin' just any surround sound. I have a friend who worked at a custom speaker place in Utah called Wilson Audio. Their stuff is incredibly expensive, but it's top of the line.
And I'd put it all in a nice little house someplace. (Oh, that's six. Oh well. With this much money, who cares if I go over?)
Get my immediate family from debt.
Quit my job.
Go to grad school and get my masters in education.
Purchace meals for a year from a catering service.
Take a world tour.
Pretty much the same as Hula Doula.
Pay off all my debts, and those of immediate family (parents/siblings/kids)
Set my parents (including in-laws) up with a trust that will let them live how ever they want for the rest of their lives.
Setup college funds for my kids, nephews/nieces, and grandkids.
Build me a woodworking shop that would make Norm Abram jealous.
Move back to my wife's home town and help rebuild her families farm.
Of course, that all comes after the charitable donations.
Almost forgot, I'd have a state of the art house built. Electronics galour! And a special room just for my computers (lots of them).
I'd invest in a farm and see if I had anything left at the end of 5 years.
OHHH, I'd So rub it in people's faces! And buy a huge house, wonderful car... blah blah blah!
Really though,
I'd have more kids.
Leave the IT industry and set myself up with my own cafe bar.
Buy a Testarossi for myself and whatever my partner wants.
Get a yacht.
Money fund for my son.
Buy my family extravagant presents.
And all the remaining funds I will just waste away over the years (including whatever the current deserving cause is)
#50 Million Wow! Where to start? Much of it would go to my children and grand children with some saved back for my wifes' and my older years. Get a nicer home (not too big as I don't want to feel like a BB in a box car! invest some of it to pay taxes on home etc. and buy a realy nice car for a change.
$350 mil. Wow ! where to begin? Taxes would reduce it to nearly$175million,I would probably get all my kin out of debt, put some in trust for grand children, get larger house (not too big as I don't want to feel like a BB in a boxcar!)
Cet a realy nice car,and invest for old age.
Not very orriginal I know, but that is what I would do!(I think.)
1. Set up college funds for the 11 kids that are closest to me.
2. Buy or build a castle with lots of property.
3. Take my extended family on a Disney Cruise.
4. Pay off our debts.
5. Buy new cars or trucks for the adults that are closest to my heart.
6. Help my parents and adult children with their debts and get them all started on their dreams.
7. Get my 2 year old into a good pre-school.
8. Plan and buy the "Perfect" camp set up for the SCA.
9. Set up a studio for ALL my arts. With a pottery wheel and kiln, as well as paint and canvas.
10. Oops you said 5 things didn't you? I kinda got carried away. :)
5 things to do with 350 million dollars
1) Pay off our house, my parent's house, my in-laws houses and buy my sister a house in Paris (where she lives) and set them all up for life.
2) Buy a house out in the middle of the Unita Mountains with lots of gorgeous land for us (my husband would be soooo happy!)
3) Get a plane and learn to fly it so I could commute to the city to teach Suzuki violin lessons (Or just pay others to fly it - but it would be fun to fly it myself too).
4) Help develop my sister's website project
la passerelle. And buy art from it.
5) Buy a Stradivarius Violin and play chamber music with my friends (buy them their choice of instruments too)...Buy chamber music scores.
My plan would include a home by the sea and a full-sized snooker table. After that, it's all gravy.
1. Pay of Bills
2. Let Hubby quit his job.
3. Buy a huge house in a "no HOA" area.
4. Buy a nice big SUV. I'll be able to afford the gas, you know, and we only have one car now.
5. Take a real family vacation for a couple of months.
Hire a weekly house cleaner, a personal chef and a gardner. Buy a vacation home. Fix our house up. Put aside money for college and retirement. Get my M.F.A. in writing. Invest in real estate. Set my mom up like royalty. I could go on and on and on...
OOHH Let's see.
Houses and cars are a given for myself and the kiddos and my brother.
Inheritance for the kids is a given.
Shopping is a BIG given.
LONG luxurious expensive vacation for everyone I know (all together).
Possibly some plastic surgery. Kids, tits...enough said.
Billboards ALL over town to rub it in my ex's face. (Hehe evil)
Yep, easy to go past five here.
1. Spend as much money as would be necessary to take my children on a trip around South America, including the Andes, the Cape, the Amazon, and everything in between — SAFELY. Might take a lot of money.
2. Buy a nice big house with a music room and a giant gorgeous spectacular piano to put in it.
3. Found a school and recruit suitable teachers with irresistible salaries. Send my children there.
4. Buy an established but floundering small press and have fun choosing and promoting books.
5. Buy a 45 foot sailboat and get my husband to sail us around the world for a year or two.
